Come to the Frazier Kentucky History Museum for a Family Day celebration honoring the 250th anniversary of American Independence! Experience the Frazier’s four temporary exhibitions inspired by American Independence and the contribution of Kentuckians to it: Pursuit of Happiness, Louisville to Liberty,I Too Am A Kentuckian, and Revolutionary Threads. With admission to the event, you and your family can engage in a series of hands-on crafts and activities provided by the Frazier’s Education team and various community partners, participate in museum-wide scavenger hunts, guided tours, meet with our collections manager and get up close with the collection, witness a live theater performance titled Early America Through Music, and gain access to the rest of the Frazier’s 3 floors of exhibitions! The Louisville Review and the Frazier Kentucky History Museum present the 35th Anniversary of the Affrilachian Poets with Frank X Walker, celebrating this historic anniversary of the oldest continually running predominantly African American writing group in the country. The program will consist of: a talk on the history of the Affrilachian Poets by founding member Frank X Walker, a poetry reading by members of the Affrilachian Poets Collective, and a reception with refreshments and abook signing. The first 100 registered guests will receive a complimentary copy of The Louisville Review Number 99, which celebrates 35 years of the Affrilachian Poets and 50 years of The Louisville Review.

Step into a magical winter wonderland with your family that brings together history, community, and holiday fun! This winter the Frazier Kentucky History Museum will be partnering with the non-profit I’d Rather Be Reading to offer 3 floors full of trees decorated by community partners, organizations, individuals, and families.
During this engaging experience, students will enjoy a tree scavenger hunt, a selection of craft & activity tables, prize drawings, holiday games, face painting, live presentations in the museum theatre, and more! Families will also enjoy access to engage and learn in all Frazier Museum exhibitions, including Pursuit of Happiness, I Too am a Kentuckian, The Lewis and Clark Experience, and others.
