ADMISSION: Free with museum admission (FREE FOR MEMBERS; sign up for a Frazier membership)
PROGRAM: 10:30 AM – 1:45 PM
Travel back in time with us as we pay a visit to the 70s, 80s, and 90s. From pet rocks to Titanic these day camps are sure to be pretty rad.
Each day this week we’ll focus on a different art discipline–painting, sculpture, music, theater, and film. We’ll host visiting artists for hands-on experiences, learn about the history and cultural influence of specific artists and art movements, and take mini-field trips around the block to explore Main Street art sites and museums.
Do your students know why we celebrate Labor Day each September? The Frazier Museum education team is pleased to team up with Caroline C. Sheffield, PhD, an Associate Professor in Social Studies Education at the University of Louisville to provide you with the tools needed to help students answer that question.
Using the picture book Which Side Are You On? by Kentucky author George Ella Lyon and illustrator Christopher Cardinale as an anchor text, this session will use the conflict between miners and the coal companies to explore how labor unions have helped create safer and fairer working conditions.
