The Journey Project
Kentuckiana played a central role in the Underground Railroad. The Journey is an immersive storytelling experience that helps uncover the hidden stories of people and places in our community with close ties to this resistance story. You have the option to experience the Journey in person or through a virtual video edition.

Association for Teaching Black History in KY
The Association for Teaching Black History in Kentucky is committed to collaborating with educators to provide support in in teaching Kentucky’s deep history, curating supplemental educational materials to support teachers, and celebrates the work of Kentucky educators.
Filson Historical Society
The Filson Historical Society collects, preserves, and shares the significant history and culture of Kentucky and the Ohio Valley. The Filson’s educators page offers direct links to digital collections and exhibits to enhance classroom curriculum.
Kentucky Archaeological Survey
The Kentucky Archaeological Survey educators page offers a wide range of lessons plans, articles, and other learning resources connected to Kentucky’s long history and its people.
Kentucky Historical Society
The Kentucky Historical Society views history and social studies education as an inquiry-driven, interactive process rooted in historical evidence. Their education page offers a wealth of resources including digital resources, professional learning, traveling trunks, and more.
Kentucky Native American Heritage Commission
The KY Native American Heritage Commission was established to recognize and promote Native American contributions and influence in Kentucky’s history and culture. They offer a wide range of educational resources including resource packets, social studies units, posters, and more.
Kentucky to the World
Kentucky to the World works to elevate the cultural and intellectual reputation of our Commonwealth on a global stage. They offer both in-person and digital educational opportunities for local students.
Louisville (Other) Heritages - Story Map
Louisville's (Other) Heritages is a story mapping project that invited five Louisvillians with first generation migration backgrounds to share places and spaces in Louisville that are meaningful and have heritage significance for them. The project was completed by doctoral level students at the University of Louisville’s Department of Urban and Public Affairs.
Louisville Water Company
Louisville Water Company offers classroom visits, virtual programs, and digital lessons to help students understand what it takes to turn water from the Ohio River into a glass of the best-tasting water in the nation.
