Free College Student Membership FAQs

Become a College Student Member - FAQs

How did this campaign come about?

This marks the second free membership campaign the Frazier has launched since 2020. That October, in an effort to help downtown reemerge from the pandemic, the Frazier gifted free membership (through October 2021) to everyone who lives in the twelve-county area surrounding Louisville—no strings attached.

“In phase one of our free membership campaign, we found that lifelong learners in particular were interested in museum membership,” Frazier president and CEO Andy Treinen said. “So, in phase two, we’re extending the offer to college students. Our hope is that, after they graduate, they’ll remain part of the Frazier family for years to come.”

What if I am already a member at a paying level?

We are grateful for your investment in the Museum as the place where the world meets Kentucky. Your support and confidence in our work means so much to us. Thank you for believing in our mission of igniting the human spirit through thoughtfully-crafted stories, sparking curiosity about our past and our connection to the future. Once your membership is up for renewal, and you are still an eligible student, you may switch over to the College Student Membership program at that time.

How long is the free membership active?

Memberships are active for an annual time period. (Example: If you purchase on January 4, 2023, your membership will need to be renewed by January 31, 2024)

If you activate your membership as a college student, you may renew each year until your graduation date. At that point, if you’d like to remain a member, you can renew as a paying member. The Individual Membership, which currently costs $20 and lasts one year, includes the free college student member benefits—plus discounts for parking and Museum Store purchases.

What if I graduate within a year of activating my membership?

Congratulations on your graduation! If your college student membership was purchased within a year of your graduation date, your membership will be set to expire at the end of the month of your graduation date.

We request that college students interested in becoming members activate their membership online before visiting the museum. Be prepared to provide your school name, current year, anticipated graduation date, and student ID upon receiving your welcome email in order to confirm your membership.
