How long does it take?
To complete the full audio tour, walking / driving to each location as needed, takes approximately 2 hours, but varies on individual interest at each location. To listen to the audio file takes 45 minutes.

Who is this audio tour suitable for?
The program is suitable for students, families, lifelong learners, and individuals interested in learning about our local connections to slavery and the Underground Railroad.

Where should I park?

Paid parking is available at the Frazier History Museum, 829 West Main Street Louisville, KY 40202. This location places you approximately 5 blocks from Stop #1 and approximately a five minute walk from the last stop on the walking portion of the tour.

Paid parking is also available in the Parc Wharf lot (BLUE LOT) at 131 W. River Road. To pre-pay for parking, click here. Payment can also be made day-of at the blue and yellow Pay Station along the wharf. This location places you near stop #3 on the walking portion of the tour.

Why can’t I drive around between the first 4 locations?
The first four locations located in downtown Louisville include several locations along the Ohio River waterfront and are not accessible directly by car.

How much walking is included in the audio tour?
To park and walk to each of the first four locations in downtown Louisville includes approximately 2 miles of walking between locations. The two final locations in New Albany, IN are within several blocks of each other and are easily accessible by walking or by car. You will need to drive between stops 4 and 5 to finish the experience.

 

How can I help spread the word about this free experience?

What if I prefer to experience the audio tour from my home or in a classroom?
If you prefer not to travel to complete the audio tour, please feel free listen to the audio file “podcast style”. The Frazier Museum education team is currently working to add visuals to allow for a more immersive virtual experience that will be ready within the next year and will be especially useful for the home and classroom.
