Launching “Into the Vault”

It’s official!

On June 18, the Collections team launched Into the Vault, a new experience that takes guests into our storage facility for a closer look at the artifacts in our permanent collection. Like most museums, the Frazier is able to display only a fraction of its entire collection, simply because there is just so much stuff! Into the Vault will be a recurring program that allows us to share more stories about Kentucky’s history, people, and culture beyond what you see in our exhibits.

Our first Into the Vault was a special Father’s Day weekend program that packaged a tour of The Commonwealth: Divided We Fall and Bourbon tasting experience with the storage tour. We had such a fun time taking both groups through our favorite artifacts in storage like the Jim Mitchell collection, B.F. Meek Kentucky fishing reels, and whisky jugs before exploring Kentucky’s rich and diverse history in The Commonwealth with a curator-led tour. To top it off, we finished in the Frazier Speakeasy where one of our certified Bourbon guides led everyone through a create-your-own Old Fashioned cocktail experience.

We in the Collections department are grateful for our first Into the Vault participants and are excited to bring more experiences like this to you in the future! Sign up for our Frazier Weekly newsletter and stay tuned for upcoming programs and workshops from the Collections team!
