Pioneers in the Cockpit: The Illustrated History of the Tuskegee Airmen
2/16/2010            6 to 9 p.m.
Professional Development for Teachers

In a one-hour multimedia lecture featuring photographs, video and audio clips, presenter Ron Spriggs tells the story of the Tuskegee Airmen. Before WWII, no U.S. military pilots were African American. Despite the War Department’s reluctance, Congress forced the Army Air Corps to form an all-black combat unit. The Tuskegee Airmen served with distinction, paving the way for the eventual integration of the U.S. armed forces.

Also included in the workshop, is a visit to our temporary exhibit, WWII: 48 Local Stories That Changed the World and an informal session about creative ways to integrate the evening’s information into your curricula. Light refreshments provided.

After completion of this workshop, educators recieve 3 professional development credits.
