Frazier Museum Summer Camp
6/15/2009  - 7/17/2009            9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Noble knights on horseback… Regal queens and kings… Pioneers who ventured forth into a new land… These and many more fascinating stories come to life during the Frazier International History Museum’s 2009 summer camps!

Children engage in an array of fun, multisensory experiences and activities, including daily excursions into our galleries, hands-on investigations of museum objects, creative arts & crafts and lively interactions with the Frazier Museum’s costumed cast of historical interpreters.

Weeklong day camps for rising 1st through 6th graders are offered during select weeks in June and July, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Each weeklong camp is $175 or $155 for Frazier Museum members. (Family memberships are just $75! Click here for membership information.)

Camp size is limited to 15 children, so early registration is recommended.

Westward Ho!
July 13-17 (Grades 1-3)
Git along little doggies! Leave your WiiTM behind and come play pioneer games, but only after you’ve finished your chores! You’ll pound grain, churn butter and prepare wool for making into yarn! On your adventure, you’ll follow the pioneers’ journey westward- from the Kentucky frontier out to the Wild West! Explore various Native American cultures and do beadwork. Try your hand at lassoing and learn target shooting from Annie Oakley!  After the day is done, we’ll sit around a “campfire” to hear traditional Native American legends and tell tall tales from the Old West.

How Things Work: Science in History
July 13-17 (Grades 4-6)
Become a “junior scientist” in this fun and hands-on exploration of how science and technology have changed and affected history. Shape armor with angles in the wrong place and it’s lights out for the knight! Forget about a GPS- use a map and compass to explore your way. Investigate physics as you create your own roller coaster. Experiment with the aerodynamics of an arrow and try your hand at blacksmithing. Explore engineering as you build a castle- and then build the catapult to knock it down!

Event Pricing:
Non-Museum Members $ 175 per person
Frazier Museum Members $ 155 per person
