When George Washington was sworn in as the first President of the United States in 1789, he initially used the name, "His High Mightiness, the President of the United States and Protector of their Liberties." Critics charged that it smacked of monarchy and Washington consented that the title be altered to "Mr. President."

“Women’s History Month”
This SECOND SATURDAY is all about HERstory! We’ll celebrate both the traditional and not so traditional roles of women & girls throughout history with women-centered activities and demonstrations will be going on throughout the museum. Kids Club members will learn a medieval dance and make flower garlands to wear in their hair!
