Teddy Bear

During a hunt in 1902, President Theodore Roosevelt refused to kill a Black Bear. After political cartoons depicting the incident were published, toy-makers started creating “Teddy Bears.”

SECOND SATURDAY Family Day

Date: October, 13th 2012 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

“Halloween”

We know Halloween isn’t until later in the month, but we thought it would be fun to celebrate early.  We’ll highlight ways that cultures around the world have used costumes and masks for things other than getting candy.  Dress up as your favorite person from history to make the day more fun!  And don’t be scared that you won’t be able to afford all of the entertainment: SECOND SATURDAY activities are FREE for all museum visitors.  As always, museum admission is FREE for Kids Club members on SECOND SATURDAYs!
