Military Rifles of Two World Wars,
by John Walter. Greenhill Military Manual Series. Greenhill Books, London, UK, 2003. ISBN 1 85367 536 9. 288 pp.; 8 1/2” x 6”; 160 b&w illustrations; hrdbnd. $24.00 plus s/h.

John Walter's Military Rifles is the fifteenth release in Greenhill's Manuals series on weapons of the 20th and early 21st centuries. This is a handy, pocket-sized reference for introductory and recognition information on the longarms (some carbines are also included) and relevant ammunition used by the combatant nations of both World Wars. The handbook's major drawback is the total lack of any form of bibliography or suggested works for further reading, logical inclusions in such an introductory study.

In the United States, the above title and others by Greenhill can be ordered through Stackpole Books, 5067 Ritter Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055-6921, or by calling (800) 732-3669, or via their website at www.stackpolebooks.com .
